Orlando Arrieta was born in Heredia, Costa Rica, on September 29th, 1980. He received the B.Sc. and the Licentiate degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Costa Rica, Costa Rica, in 2003 and 2006 respectively. In 2007, he obtained the M.Sc. degree in Industrial Systems Engineering and in 2010 the Ph.D. with a dissertation in the PID control field, both from Autonomous University of Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain. From 2003 to 2005, he was Research Assistant Professor at the Automatic Control Department, University of Costa Rica. Then, he was a Researcher at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where he also conducted a post-doc research period. Since 2011, he has the position of Lecturer at the Automatic Control Department, University of Costa Rica, maintaining his contacts with the research group of Barcelona. His main research interests are in PID Control, Process Control and Control Systems Theory and Applications.
