- Maribel Garcia teaches a new edition of the course "Absenteeism and school dropout: tools and strategies for prevention and reduction" in the Diputació de Barcelona (04/26/18)
Last February a new edition of the training for municipal technicians carried out by the Barcelona Provincial Council was held. The course is framed in a longitudinal (biographical), transversal (service integration) and process (transitions and follow-up) perspective ) and puts the emphasis on prevention and on personal, school and social situations at risk of rupture, under an approach to improving schooling and educational success. Throughout the course three main areas of intervention were worked on: (1) The prevention and detection of educational and social problems leading to absenteeism (understood as a temporary break in schooling) and abandonment (definitive rupture), (2) the design of specific intervention proposals for the prevention and reduction of absenteeism, according to the causes and typologies and (3) the return of the students in the center, with guarantees of success.

On January 25, between 12 and 14 hours, the first seminar of the year of the Research Group on Education and Work was held in the D seminar of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology.
In the seminar two presentations were made:

The researcher Sandra Fachelli participated in the Gender and Migration Seminar: cross mobilities and transnational dynamics, presenting the work "The effect of immigration on intergenerational social mobility in Spain" carried out together with Pedro López-Roldán on the occasion of the presentation of the Monograph of the Spanish Journal of Sociology "Migrations and social mobility: escalating the social hierarchy in the transnational space".
The opening of the meeting, held on November 24, 2017 at the Complutense University of Madrid, was in charge of the Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology, Heriberto Cairo and the coordinators of the Monograph Laura Oso (UDC) and Almudena Cortes ( UCM).
- GRET celebrates its 30th anniversary (07/09/17)
On September 7th, we conducted the first seminar of the Research Group on Education and Labor (GRET) of the course, a consolidated research group from the Department of Sociology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and coordinated by Rafael Merino Pareja, between 10:00 and 2:00 pm at the C seminar of GRET.
The meeting ended with the celebration of the 30 years of the creation of the research group, which was attended by three founding members: Joaquim Casal, Jordi Planas and Josep Maria Masjuan.
