Laia Manonelles Moner

Laia Manonelles Mones is PhD in Art History at UAB. Associate Professor at Art History Department at UB and she has taught in the Chinese Studies Master at Humanity Department at UPF (2010-2011) and the Plastic Arts Didactics Department at the Education Science Faculty at UAB (2009-2011). Associate Researcher at SOAS (School of African and Asian Studies, London).

Her research covers Experimental Art in China, Action Art, artist women in China, and the reception of Chinese Contemporary Art in the Euroamerican context. She has done a series of interviews in video to several Chinese artists that has been exhibit at Artium Museum in Palacio de la Virreina, at Reina Sofía Museum, at the CAF and at Casa Asia. She has commissioned the exposition Construint la Xina: visions d’una transformació (2010) at the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs in Lleida. Author of the book Arte experimental en China, conversaciones con artistas (Edicions Bellaterra, 2011) and of the articles “Ai Weiwei: La recepción de su producción artística” (Arte, Individuo y Sociedad, 2015), “Explorations of Genealogy in Experimental Art in China” (Journal of Contemporary Chinese art Editorial Intellect Journals, nº1, 2014) y “Diasporas and Migration Flows in Chinese Experimental Art” (International Journal of Current Chinese Studies, nº3, 2012).

Current member of the research group SGR InterAsia (2014 SGR 1402) and of the group Art i Arquitectura en la Societat Digital (AASD). Collaborator in the research groups GREGA. Grup de Recerca en Estètica general i Antropològica (Artes Plásticas, Teatro, Artes de acción y Cine. Universidad de Barcelona e Instituto del Teatro) and the group Interasia. Interculturalitat a l’Àsia Oriental. (Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona).
