Ana Pereira


Ana Pereira graduated in 1989 from the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain) with a Licenciatura en Filología Inglesa. In 1992 she obtained a postgraduate on Translation, followed by a doctorate in 1998 on Applied Linguistics both in the above mentioned university. Since 1993 she has been teaching General Translation from English into Spanish at the University of Vigo; she also teaches Subtitling for persons with hearing impairment to postgraduate students. Her main areas of research are the comparative study of English and Spanish genres and registers within Systemic Functional Linguistics, the translation of literature for children and teenagers, and audiovisual translation, specially Subtitling for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. She has written books and numerous articles in these fields.
