María Jiménez Andrés holds a PhD in Translation and Intercultural Studies from UAB (Cum Laude), an MA in Higher Education from Middlesex University (UK), and a BA Translation and Interpreting from University of Alicante (Spain). 

She is currently a Lecturer in Spanish as a Foreign Language and Translation and Interpreting at Middlesex University, where she has worked since 2013. 

She was a predoctoral researcher in the Department of Translation, Interpreting and East Asian Studies at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) from 2019 to 2021, and worked on Information Communication Technologies to promote refugees’ integration with a scholarship associated to the REBUILD project. 

She is actively involved in outreach and consultancy for NGOs. She has collaborated with New Citizen’s gateway, Caritas, Refugees Welcome and other small organisations in the UK and Spain. Most of her work with these organisations involve communication and language support and consultancy. She has also taught Spanish to Arabic speakers at Eton Institute in the United Arab Emirates, as well as English as a Foreign Language at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. As a translator and interpreter, María has engaged in various roles institutions such as the Bolivarian Embassy of Venezuela in the United Kingdom and Ipsos Mori.
